If you are going to ride your bicycle on the road, know what the ef you are doing, and don't ride into oncoming traffic, or you will end up dead, too.

WaltonSun.com
January 30, 2008 Press release by DeFuniak
Springs Police Department

On Wednesday, 01-30-2008 at approximately 4:05 pm a Walton County School Bus (V-2) was traveling northbound on State Road 83 in front of the Walton County Fairgrounds returning to the bus barn. A bicycle (V-1) driven by Roxie L. Blackmon (46) was traveling southbound on State Road 83 on the northbound apron (east pavement edge). According to the driver of the Walton County School Bus (Sherrika A. Duncan) the bicycle crossed the painted white edge line and struck the right front of the school bus (V-2). D-1 (Blackmon) had massive head trauma and was killed instantly, coming to final rest on the east grass shoulder of State Road 83. The Walton County School Bus was caring three children on board, none of which were injured.

The traffic crash investigator is Officer Richard Black. In addition to the traffic crash report, a traffic homicide investigation will also be conducted. No charges have been filed at this time.

I'm actually shocked this has not happen before in this area.

You may want to check into a sensitivity training class.

if you think this was bad, you should hear what they were saying about this poor old man who was nearly beaten to death at a vegetable stand. as jennifer aniston would say, they're missing a 'sensitivity chip'.

Why? Because of an important reminder not to ride your bike against oncoming traffic instead of with it? Why is this insensitive?

sensitivity class? sometimes, people need a wake up call. As one who rides his bike on the road, I hate to see other people screwing it up for me and the others who obey the rules of the road when riding. How would you like to be the school bus driver with a bus-load of kids who has to make a decision on whether to dodge the bicyclist and risk killing the kids and other drivers in oncoming vehicles, or to hit the bicyclist, knowing that you would kill him? Maybe I do need a sensitivity class, but this story disturbs me, greatly.
