Ralph Throws Tom Cooper In Race - Coyote Throws Him Out

New posts
Imfeld does not count- he has exited the building. I keep hearing though that there will be one or two more on the R side and one on the D side. one a county employee and one a state employee. so we may have 9-10 after all.
You never did say if Brown was withdrawing, was I right?

Not what I am hearing

By the way in reality he is just (inactive) he could still pre-qualify, but He told me he was not.

Plus I hear one more - I cannot determine his "background".

People change their minds sometimes. My source is 2nd hand. I have been mislead before by people that said "No I will not run" and those that said "I Am Going To Withdraw".

Remember these a politicians.

They have a very difficult time being honest.

Let's see what happens !

Idlewild:

Sorry I missed your post about Adkinson and Cornman.

Niether have any ties to Ralph Johnson.

That is my 1st cut point.

Plus another one has a inquiry in concerning his "Hatch Act" determination. Plus one other person that has filed half of his paperwork. We may make the magic 13.
I heard last week about 2 individuals that were talking about running and one of the two came true(Tom) and the other was Stan Sunday any truth or just rumor?

I had heard the talk about Sunday. Trying to get a ruling concerning the "Hatch Act" I understand.

Must admit that Cooper is and was a bolt of lightning. Heard he had decided not to run months ago. Guess he changed his mind.

Understand he is being backed by the Sandestin HOA.

Time will tell, but as I have said. His close ties with the current Sheriff are suspect at best. How can a person run a campaign listing all of his opponents flaws and still remain as of his Lieutenants. Makes you wonder what he has been offered to get in the race.

It would smell better to me if he had not tried to burn the candle from both ends. This is going to be a very interesting campaign.

About the comment of Tom Cooper's record as a SWFD Commissioner and "the budget exploding"......I have to jump in. When a community explodes, as Sowal has, your fire district is expected to keep up for the safety and welfare of the community. And it did. The SWFD had to hire more FF/EMT's, purchased needed equipment, built or expanded fire houses, etc...

Yes South Walton has grown in the past few years. Population by 47.9%, but the SWFD budget and the taxes they have placed on you and I have grown by over 528% in the same time period. But their call history and demand for services only grew by 20%.

New stations had to be built, people hired and raises given and believe me they did both. Things are so good over there.

These comments are not 'non-support' for the men and women providing the direct services to the community. They are honest, hardworking, community minded individuals.

My point is the lack of "vision" by the Board - they never saw an end to the "housing boom" that has now turned into a housing bust. The board is to narrow in its makeup. To many realtors, developers that serve their own interests rather than the community. Cooper was a part of those blinded by the "kingdom building" of the former chief. I found not one single vote in their minutes where he exercised any "due diligence" responsibility to the taxpayers of Walton County. Voted "yea" on all of the runup

His service was "lackluster".

They have a current "Reserve" of about 46% of their annual budget.

All of this occurred during his term in office.
