Beach Comber
I was just wondering if anyone knew of any type of camp for three year olds and up. Really anything- just a couple of hours a day/ a couple of days a week- I was also trying to find any kind of program for this age- would not have to be a camp. Thanks

I'm wondering the same thing.
Perpetual Imagination's website says they do K and up, not 3 y/o's. :(

I put mine on the waiting list for a summer preschool at Village Baptist in Destin a couple days a week. But, it's a waiting list none the less.

There's a reason for this... 3 yr olds have about a 5 minute attention span! A playgroup is a better option at this age or a mommy and me class. Enjoy your little ones. There's plenty of time for classes as they get older.

I'm in the process of getting the rest of April - May schedule ready to post online and elsewhere. Starting next Wednesday, April 9, we will have "mommy & me" type activities starting at Perpetual Imagination for 2 - 3 year olds. The first topics are "Color & Light: Swirl Art" and "Botany for Babies." These wil be from 10 AM to 11 AM on Wednesdays and Fridays. Cost is $20, but no drop-offs will be allowed. This will continue as long as there is interest. April is a trial run. :D

Hm, wow. Do you think I don't already know the attention span of a 3 y/o? I have 5 younger siblings and am very well versed in early childhood development. :idontno:

I never said I wanted to drop my kid off for a week somewhere as if I didn't like him or want to be around him. He's spent on day in his entire life (38.5 months) away from me, except on the day his brother was born (no hospital stay even).

I do however like to bring him to activities where he can learn and play with a little direction since that is what he enjoys. Fun classes at the science museum (an hour away), children's museum (none here), or his weekly AWANA lesson are something he thoroughly looks forward to and asks about daily.

He spends one hour and 45 minutes away from me every week, total. I don't think I should feel chastised for looking into a class or two for him over the summer. His attention span is developed enough to be engaged in a small project. Plenty of kids are in preschool 5 full days a week at his age, I refuse to have him spend that much time away from me. A day or three over the course of several months won't kill him, he might actually benefit from it. We do playgroups, while his 2 y/o brother enjoys them, he doesn't. He's grown out of that and wants a little more hands on fun.

Thanks for that update PI :)

Just a thought - are there any Kindermusic teachers around? My sister used to teach Kindermusic in Savannah and just loved it (happy teacher, happy kids :) ). That might be a fun thing for your little one, too.

I just meant don't stress about it..he has plenty of time for classes. If I could do it over with my kids I wouldn't have started things so early. ( I would have saved the money) That's all. My opinion. If you feel chastised that's your problem. No need to respond. I won't be checking back.
