Walton County Needs Help with Signs on 30-A

Recent proclamations by the state and county declaring County Highway 30A a Scenic Corridor has Walton County workers scrambling to bring the right-of-way along the south-county road in compliance with county code. Two of the greatest concerns to the county are real estate signs and trash receptacles. Code Enforcement officials have contacted ECAR to ask for members? help in moving signs currently in the right-of-way.
In talking to ECAR, enforcement officers have admitted that certain areas along the corridor have high brush that makes it difficult to see signs from the road if placed on the property. Kevin Hargett, coordinator of the Code Enforcement office, said that once the signs and trash bins are removed the county will be cutting down the tall grass. ?We would rather work with the Realtors to have these signs removed [from the right-of-way] instead of removing them ourselves,? he said. One official suggested that a good rule of thumb is to keep signs behind the power poles and drainage ditches which typically indicate where the right-of-way ends. Kevin said the county would need to begin removing signs themselves in mid-June. The Walton County Code Enforcement office may be reached at (850) 622-0000.

Just take all the "For Sale" signs and stick them in the sand all along the beach (with the addresses, contact info and info tubes attached)....CE can't remove them from the beach without an act of Congress.
