Today, I noticed a group of hard-working prisoners clearing brush from the roadside, using hand tools. Looked like some hard work and reminded me of times earlier in my life when I used to manually clear dikes and blaze nature trails. The big differences were that I got paid, had a solo shower to go to at home, and had a soft bed, with free time outside of work and the home, though I mostly was sleeping or eating when I wasn't working. One thing that I learned from that high-school job was that I didn't want to do that hard manual work for the rest of my life. It made me appreciate the many laborers out there in the world.
