Move the war to Afghanistan

New posts
If the war/wars are going to continue and/or more countries are going to be atacked by the USA, I do not think I want Obama to be our leader in that type of situation. In wartime I would pick McCain in peace Obama.

 ... and I want five million dollars.

No matter when we leave Iraq (now, 100 years, whenever) they are going to notice - whether we publicly announce it or not!

It's not like we blow a whistle and everyone immediately runs aboard the plane - the number of people and amount of equipment we have there takes a great deal of time to move - all under the eyes of locals and with local personnel. It doesn't take sophisticated intelligence monitoring secure communications, noting flight schedules, or troop levels - the empty mess hall and local staff w/o jobs ought to do it!

Finishing a mission, removing your troops from foreign soil, and allowing the domestic troops you have spent years and hundreds of billions training to do their jobs is not "surrender".

She's as much Karl Rove as you aren't part of some propaganda machine.

Please explain. I think you might be right on both counts. I am pretty sure she is not K.R. and I am not part of anything that I know of.

Why do Americans even Sowalites want to fight so much ?

Love the whistle image, Scootie pie;-)

The idea that NATO hasn't been centered on that single goal over the last seven years is ridiculous. Afghanistan is a very different war from Iraq. We're seeing a resurgence because we can't get to the bad guys in Pakistan. Regardless of who takes over in January, that is going to be a very tricky situation, and I'm glad we have a guy like Patreus taking over to figure it out.
Tricky is a great way to describe it. I just don't believe that Bin Laden will be found by sending our army into Afghanistan or Pakistan. Futhermore, he is not worth the cost in blood or dollars. I feel like the extremists in the area are baiting us into another huge mess that will not end well. Did nobody read (or see) Charley Wilson's War? Those that hate America can get at us best by draining us morally and financially with an unwinnable conflict on their turf. I support Obama, but I hate to hear the more "hawkish" statements he has uttered as of late. Some problems need that scalpel, and not the military in force marching into quicksand. Civillian deaths of Afghans or Pakistanis just add fuel to the fire. Good intelligence work may get Bin Laden someday, in the mean time, lets not make matters worse! Please Senator Obama, do not take the bait. And yes, many Americans just love to fight, but we must pick our battles wisely.l
