thanks to all of the hardworking walton county democrats for dedicating hours and hours of your time to make our candidate for president win this election. we may not be a huge group but we make up for it in commitment and camaraderie. i have truly enjoyed being a part of this campaign, and we must make sure to continue to meet and run candidates in local elections. we represent what is good about this country - inclusiveness and refusing to bash others through hateful lies and rumors. i truly hope those more reasonable voices within the republican party start to surface again (remember john mccain in 2000..where did he go????), which will make life easier for all americans as "reaching across the aisle" will become a reality.

I am sure Sarah Palin, Joe the Plumber and (locally) Robert Nelson share your belief that Democrats never, ever "bash others through hateful lies and rumors."

Idlewind is right. All you have to do is go through many of the threads during this election period to find unparalleled derision, contempt and, if not lies, at least unethical posts by any number of contributors. While this might not have applied to your comrades at the local Democrat headquarters, on many many occasions it certainly applied here and elsewhere. The election is over and I accept the results and will try to graciously live with them. With the attitudes of some, I am not sure how easy this will be. And yes, I realize I am very opinionated and plan to remain so. I hope I can do so without going totally ballistic about some of the things I know I am going to see in the coming days.
I would like to say thank you to Walton County Democrats too! You did an outstanding job recruiting volunteers, volunteering, and bringing Obama's message to us locally. You all provided some of the best music and positive events we've ever had in this area. It was done with much class and dedication. I thank you all. I also thank the Republicans & Independents who joined Walton Democrats in working in a most positive way to elect Obama! It was a beautiful coming together of many people.
I know our county went pretty strongly for McCain, but I also know that because of our local campaign, many of our friends participated in events here and went to their hometowns to vote for real change. So, Walton Democrats - you made a difference far beyond our little community.
