By Larry Olmsted, Special for USA TODAY
Unlike densely populated South Florida or theme-park epicenter Orlando, the western panhandle of Florida has no big cities, and trendy nightclubs are few and far between. The region is not exactly sleepy, with plenty of golf courses and resort developments, but for many years it hasn't drawn much attention from second-home buyers beyond nearby Louisiana, Texas and Alabama.

Then why is there a picture of Destin condos?

[JoshMclean]

That's what I thought!

It is unconscionable that with all the beautiful pictures available of South Walton, Walton County, that USA Today would print that condo filled picture of Destin, Okaloosa County with the story about South Walton. If the author, Larry Olmstead, selected this picture he obviously doesn't really know the subject matter. If he didn't, he should be horrified and ask for a correction!!

Letters to the USA Today Editor everyone! copy to Sonny at TDC.

The credited photographer is from Pensacola, I think.

Did they really have to choose one that had the seaweed in it?? Sheesh.

If I saw that pic and knew nothing of the real sowal, I would run in the other direction! Disgusting.

I like the link to the Watersound Beach Club. That's my sunburned little 4 year old in the last slideshow picture. There's a lot of private/secluded and beautiful untouched dunes and beach back there.
