Hello from hot humid South Mississippi!

Hello! We decided to join in the fun so we could get "insider info" on our FAVORITE place in the world!!! We absolutely love SoWal area! Our love of this area started while we were vacationing in Gulf Shores and decided to drive over one night to meet up with family (vacationing in Destin) at Crab Trap in Fort Walton to eat and then drove on into Destin to the Track for the kids to play together! We didn't want to drive back to our Gulf Shores condo!!! This was NOT the Fort Walton and Destin we remembered from our PCBeach trips in the late 80s.

Over the years, we have moved on down to 30A. We like the beaches and the less congested roads. We always joke around with the kids, saying we are selling all of our belongings and moving to the beach to open a lemonade stand!

We are a family of 5:
Drew - dad
Angela - mom
Hannah - oldest daughter
Lauren - middle child (youngest daughter)
Andrew - youngest child - only son

We live in South Mississippi (whew-- talk about humidity!) When we are in SoWal, we get so tickled at some people talking about the heat and humidity! Our usual reply is "at least there's a beach breeze -- the only breeze in Mississippi is the "breeze" you feel when swatting at mosquitos!"

We look forward to chatting and using all of your knowledge to help us have a happy, restful vacation (we were down there 3 times last year!!). You may only be 4 hours away but it really is a "world" away!

Hi! I can relate. I live in GA now but am a native of NE MS. A few degrees cooler, no less humid!

I know exactly what you are saying, bet we have more and bigger mosquitos. When we got back from Seagrove 2 weeks ago, stepped out of the car and thought it is hotter here than in Florida. Our story sounds similar, we always went to Gulf Shores, found Seagrove and never will go back to GS. Wish I was as close as you.

Hey ya'll! This is hilarious...I just joined in the fun too and the 1st post I read in the intro section was yours!
We hope we can drive down there sometime July 3rd or 4th...can't seem to find anywhere to stay yet.

fellow Mississippians! I was just in Ocean Springs and the Petal area this past week! I will be in Laurel during the 4th. one of my college roommates is from there. They live on the road NE Jones is on.
