Another possible Republican Presidential Candidate announces an extramarital affair

New posts
For me, it's not so much the affaird that's the issue, it's bugging off to a foreign country without leaving his lt. governor with contact information and making sure that everything in the chain of command was set if an emergency happened. Imagine if the headline on Sunday had been:

'At least 50 dead as tornado hits Greenville, South Carolina'

From what I've read, Sanford hadn't made sure that the lt. governor had all the necessary statutory authority to declare a disaster, call up the national guard, etc. in order to handle such an event while he was incommunacado.

Granted, you'd hope that the lt. governor would step up and do what was right, damn the paperwork, but it's a position that Sanford should have absolutely not placed his lt. governor and cabinet in.

Maybe we should only elect women to office.

I don't recall any female politicians that have ever announced having an extramarital affair.

Don't know if it has anything to do with it but Washington is Hollywood for ugly people. Except for Sarah of course.

If Charlie Crist went missing for a week and then got up to the podium and admitted he'd "spent the last five days crying in Argentina" (or Provincetown, or whatever) I'd be disgusted enough that I would want him immediately to resign.

Politicians are great for entertainment; too bad they have to govern.

So, wait a second. He wasn't on the Appalachian Trail as reported on the news yesterday evening? He was in Argentina? "Don't Cry for Me, South Carolina?" I missed something today, evidently!

Well, well...seems like these Republicans have decided that screwing up the Party was so much fun that they might as well take it on the road!

BeachSiO2....I am hoping the TX guv is too busy shopping for hair products and forcing out college presidents to have any extracurricular time.

Go ahead and forward this to him for a little head start just in case....

S.C. governor tearfully admits affair, apologizes

South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford admitted Wednesday that he has been engaged in an extramarital affair with an Argentinian woman. "I've been unfaithful to my wife," Sanford told a news conference in Columbia, the state capital. "I developed a relationship with what started as a dear, dear friend from Argentina." His voice choking at times, Sanford apologized to his wife and four sons, and said he would resign immediately as head of the Republican Governors Association
