Unemployment and Foreclosures

New posts
Construction and hospitality always get hit hard. For Florida I think that's just something we have to accept. On the flip side, during good times we generate good revenue off all our flat taxes. If we'd just put some of that away for rainy days instead of finding ways to spend it, our budget would be in a lot better shape!

Overall though, one of the things I love most about this state is it's approach to taxation. Hopefully that won't change any time soon.

I think you're right for traditional resort areas in general. Unfortunately beaurocracies are not trained to have surplus as that cuts the following year's budget.

No foreclosures in my neighborhood of approx. 700 homes. Our taxes just went up 35% and there is a major push to abate this, turn over the Mayor and increased chatter of seceding from the City. I think it's a short term fix.

So, most unemployment and foreclosures are outside the City?? Would love to see a breakdown of demographics on these stats.
