June Water condition

Beach Comber
We are wanting to rent a home for two weeks on the beach for our children's visit this coming June. The last two years in June the water has had this green slimy sea weed. We are wondering if that is the norm for every June. As soon as they left this year it really cleared up and I was so disappointed they missed a glorious pretty clear water.

We always call it "June Grass" and has been coming in late may throuh late july for as many years as I can remember. It tends to be better in the early mornings and gets thick later in the day as the water heats up. Not sure you can really plan around it as it has always been a part of our beaches. Some years it is better then other years. One benefit is the stuff is really good for the skin!

It comes and goes with wind and currents, storms and calm. It is also clear in one spot at times and thick right down the beach a piece.

The june grass doesn't bother me - suit just needs to be rinsed better, but the water is still gloriously refreshing.

Usually it thins out the further you go, so the water may be "Thick" close to the shore and pretty clear at waist level.
