President Speaks at GOP Retreat

New posts
I understand that this went very well for the President. So well that FOX cut the last 20 minutes of the broadcast, while everyone else let the camera's roll. I haven't gotten to watch the full tape, but I understand that many are calling for him to speak wit the progressives in this type of forum. Decide for yourself.

I was channel flipping while eating lunch and came across it. This was fantastic. He needs to do more of these, and they need to be prime time so more people can watch. This reminded me why I voted for him.

I completely agree. This is the Obama everybody voted for. The question is is this a one-time PR stunt or will this kind of civil discourse continue.

most of it is playing again now on MSNBC

almost felt sorry for a couple of those house members...they've been reading their talking points too long...:funn:

Didn't he do one of these last year, too? I like the effort and the style of attempting to bridge the parties.

I have to agree with the writer below on this one. Doing this removed any doubt from my mind that there is anything fair or balanced about them.
They were the only news corp to do it. :nono1:

"Perhaps the most telling aspect of the speech reactions," writes David Weigel at the Washington Independent, is that "Fox News, alone among cable networks, cut away mid-broadcast and went to a newsless interview with Rep. Peter King (R-NY)."

this was a fabulous forum. The loyal opposition and the President should do this every quarter. A fantastic chance to build a working relationship for the benefit of the American people, and a great opportunity for Americans to see how give and take between the branches can lead to results. Pelosi and Reid have been a stumbling block, imho. Today reminded me of the English Parliaments' process of debates between the Prime Minister and the opposition. It can be great theater and a teaching moment.
