We miss all of you also! It's funny that now we're here I realize why lifetime coastal dwellers never leave. Once you've lived on the coast for a while, you tend to feel landlocked. I love the trees here, but I do miss long stretches of beautiful water.

We will be down this summer for at least a week. Not sure when, but the kids would kick my tooshie if I said no.

Even before we head down there, I feel there is going to be a trip to Topsail Island or OBX here. I haven't been since I was a teenager.

We had a lot of cold but only once did it snow decently. We got 10 inches the Saturday after we moved here. Since then, it's only been flurries.

Other than that, we are great. I do have to say that UNC healthcare system kicks butt. Having it all in one system when someone has a severe health problem is awesome. It really has made all the difference in the world.

The local food is amazing. It's easier to find than a WalMart around here. It's also inexpensive.

Homeschooling here is also wonderful. There are a number of large groups of homeschoolers and the girls have made a lot of friends already. Plus, they had a built-in friend here that we knew from Athens, GA when they were really little. Little man is growing up even more and more. I have to laugh at how much he changes daily. To think, he lived all of his life in SoWal...

Finally, living in a town where I am seen as almost being conservative is comforting. Yes, it's true. Organicmama isn't weird here.;-) Yet, it's also strange. I think I need to work on being funky again.:funn:

Enough about me.... How are all of you?

Great to hear things are working from the health perspective.
The Little Lady and I have been hitting the beaches hard getting ready for turtle season early morning walks. We'll miss not seeing you while on those walks. Maybe while you're here visiting we'll see out there.

Ash, I was thinking about you and your wife yesterday because some of our friends up here have a link to the Gulf Coast and to sea turtles.

I knew the husband from high school in GA. I literally met his wife as we walked in the door to crash at their home for 2 months. Luckily, we really like each other a lot, so it has worked out wonderfully.

Her sister was Kirsten Dahlen, a marine biologist, who spent turtle season on Santa Rosa Island. She passed away in Dec 2008 suddenly. All of her turtle things now "live" here in NC. There are more sea turtle themed items here than I have ever seen. Seriously, even her car tag says "Kemp" and they have a dog named "Ridley."

Life is so incredibly ironic sometimes, in a good way.

Yes, when we are down there, I hope to see you both. Tell your lovely wife hello from all of us!
