It's going to take a while to pick up kids with all the construction going on between 98 and Butler on 30A. Great time of year to do road construction there......give yourself extra time, took me half an hour waiting to get to the school.

Thank you for posting this. I wish I had known this morning. I also got caught in a mess at about 9:45. Cars backed up on both sides....and I counted 18 dump trucks in a line from 98 all the way to Flamingo Village and dirt flying everywhere. Looks like they are tearing the road up then coming behind putting down new asphalt. You might want to take a detour if you are not going to Butler.

We noticed everything yesterday. I'm curious as to why they are resurfacing that section of 30A? There are other areas in much greater need, but perhaps public works is waiting to hit Seagrove and Seaside during 4th of July?

Is there a reason WHY they did not do this in the OFF SEASON???? :idontno::roll: I will no longer travel senic 30-A, because it is a nightmare right now. How horrible for the spring breakers and tourists. This will not be good for our reputation and will leave a bad impression IMHO

And then there are those who live right there. Holding my breath and heading through there in just a minute to go home. Hope they're gone by now. I was told by a guy being held up by a sign (:sarc: ) that they were only resurfacing as far as the Tom Thumb. If that's the case, they should be done in a day or so.

Ya'll be careful out there--the construction guy sent my DIL and three others down the wrong lane today! She told him that he was sending her down the closed lane;, he insisted that she go "you're holding up traffic"...she gets to the next construction guy who yells at her for going down the closed lane!

And these are the same people who want to park all their construction vehicles and equipment at the school!

I was questioning the wisdom of the whole project while I was waiting at a standstill to pick up kiddies at Butler. But I'm impressed with how much progress they made and it looks like they will be done soon. That said, I didn't think it was in bad shape at all to warrant the work.

They should put the $$$ into making the bike path larger and safer!

Would that we could. This was federal stimulus bucks for the resurfacing project. Not a lot of local say in how it was to be spent.
