Speakin' Republican

New posts
Sorry to further harm your reputation, Andy (haha) but I like you too and had a GREAT time chatting with you over beers recently.

Stop you guys, you are ruining my image.:D SWGB, at least one. I am sick and tired of both parties and a third is not a viable option, IMO. Candidates who stand for what tea partier's believe are, regardless of party affiliation.

Man you hit the nail on the head here. I am disgusted with both parties and truly wish you were not right about a third option.

I respectfully disagree with you on a third party not being an option. If you take out the polarizing issues the third party might be the party that can help get things done. Keep in mind historically this country has had more than 2 parties. It's been only recently that it's been dominated by only 2.

Something we agree on. We need more choices.

Right now we do not have a choice. Republican and Democrat are simply brands or fund-raising groups. Neither really stand for anything.
I will let others define the democrat ills but I know what the Republican woes are. For too long we chose candidates based on what they SAID they believed on certain narrow social issues (ex. abortion) as opposed to what they DID on those issues. Usually all they DID was give speeches; zero action. We did not care what they said or did on anything else as long as they gave great speeches. We even attempted to use GOVERNMENT to get what we wanted. This failure found it's ultimate expression in G.W. Bush, who said the right things about abortion and social issues but did nothing ,while spending the country into oblivion. But he is not the only example. There is a long list of "Republicans" from the national government to the state level and even the local level who think proper government requires more spending, more regulation and more involvement in our lives. These are not conservative principles. If you read the garbage coming from Tallahassee or attend any Commission , city council or School Board meeting in Okaloosa or Walton County you will see this in action.

More government is not the solution, it is the problem. I dare anyone to identify ONE "Republican" officeholder in Washington, Tallahassee or local government whose actions and policies say they believe that statement.

I'll give Andy credit, he also understands the internet forum golden rule of leaving it here. We've had a few beers together and although you would think we'd fight like cats and dogs we just leave it here.

I can understand. I've never met him but as I've told him in past posts, I like him.

If we're not more careful Andy is going to lose his street cred.

Thank you, Geo, and I am open to repeat of such at any time. I, too, enjoyed the chat very much.

So the Republican solution is to put up a candidate, Sarah Palin, who will ignore major issues like the economy, war, and fine tuning health care to focus on those issues that have been neglected for so long?

First of all, the last time I looked, she wasn't a candidate. That said, I suggest you listen to a speech from her, just one will do, before you start talking about what she says. Either you haven't "heard" her or you're not listening, one of the two.

How's that hopey changey thing workin out for ya? The party of hell no. Wink wink

This is what I hear her say, Andy. Sure sometimes she mentions responsible spending which I am for. But this does not cancel out the rest of her shortcomings.

Sometimes when I hear you defend her I wish you were talking about Ron Paul. Then more of us could get behind you. But Palin? C'mon. Yer just messing with us. You like to stir it up just like me. Haha
