Richard Milhous Nixon was elected president in 1968 and 1972.

US Troops left Vietnam in 1975 during the term of Gerald Ford.

Both of these presidents were Republican.

I did, but conservatives seem to be pretty good at rewriting history. I keep waiting for Clinton to somehow be responsible.

O.K. Now I've been accused of re-writing history by the Left. In 1963, the escalation of the war began in earnest. It was under a Democrat President. The Bay of Tongyn (Sp?) began the biggest troop escalation in our history since World War II. Lyndon Johnson was president, I believe.In late 1965 through November of 1966 I flew missions in Laos. Every pilot flying in the area knew how we could win the war but we didn't have the fortitude to do so. We were still under a Democrat president.
Lastly, I suggest you analyze why we withdrew from VietNam. I am not sure of the make-up of Congress at the time, but they withdrew the money for support of the conflict. Our diplomatic staff and military support was left looking for a way off the roof of the American Embassy. I really think you can lay little blame at the feet of Gerald Ford. Now, maybe young people who don't know better will see the other side of the story. This is the last I'll say about VietNam. It is a chapter of my life I'd just as soon forget and most of the reasons have to do with the lack of support the troops received and the attitude of many of the '60's protesters still prevalent in many of them today. Thankfully, in that respect, that doesn't seem to be happening now regardless of your stand on Iraq and Afganistan.

Fact: Lush Rimbaugh has been spewing hate and even stated that the "Bastards must go" a couple of days ago.

Fact: Several of the Repub house reps were video taped egging on the protesters last weekend and waving don't tread on me flags. One even had a picture of the Speaker of the House and did a thumbs down then ***** slapped the picture in mockery, egging on the crowd.

Fact: Several of the tea party protesters spit on, cussed, called names to black and gay democratic house representatives last weekend.

Even the local law enforcement has stated that they suspect that the gas line cutting was directly associated with the wrong address posted on the tea party web site "encouraging" their group to visit the democrat representative who voted for the healthcare bill.

At least your opinion of hate on these threads hasn't resulted in physical aggression or destruction.....

But there again, these were just fat angry white men, and gender/race doesn't play into anything......

Finally, last time I checked the "don't tread on me" flags were a symbol of something called the American Revoltution. By your thinking we would still be under the crown and paying tea taxes to London.
