They haven't, they just won't serve as the safety net for these private financial institutions anymore. The banks will actually have to do their own underwriting (GASP!).

From the Wall Street Journal...

The Obama administration plans to make the government the sole provider of federal student loans, ending the participation of private lenders in the program.

Under a plan unveiled in the administration's budget, subsidies to private lenders would be eliminated, and the government would use the savings estimated at $47.5 billion over the next decade to help bolster the Pell grant program for low-income students.

If approved by Congress, the plan would effectively end government-guaranteed loans to students by banks and other private lenders—lending that has totaled $56.7 billion in the current school year, and has been the primary source of college financial aid since the program was launched in the 1960s

Sorry Andy...I know you said no quotes, but I had to show that I was not incorrect...

Why are ALL Walton County residents south of the bay being counted for the census via door-to-door canvassing, even when you are in a house that was here in 2000? I fear serious undercountment (a word I just invented) and no change in our commission representation.
I understand not wanting wasted mailings to go to everyone, but one would think sending them to registered voters, drivers license holders, and homesteaders would be a no-brainer. :idontno:

Why did the census spend money on a mailing telling everybody that they were going to get another mailing? wow...:confused:

SWGB,

What is it with you and FOX News? You say this all the time as if it discredits someones point of view. You could say that about Glenn Beck just as you could make the case about Keith Olbermann. One person doesn't discredit an entire News Channel.

Federal Student Loan Program. They can still make their own student loans, just not under this program. No more federal guarantees.

"Why" is number 3 even listed?

IRS Expansion | FactCheck.org
Q: Will the IRS hire 16,500 new agents to enforce the health care law?

A: No. The law requires the IRS mostly to hand out tax credits, not collect penalties. The claim of 16,500 new agents stems from a partisan analysis based on guesswork and false assumptions, and compounded by outright misrepresentation.

This figure originated with a report put out by Republicans on the House Ways and Means Committee on March 18. It said:

GOP Analysis, March 18: IRS may need to hire as many as 16,500 additional auditors, agents and other employees.

Notice the words "may" and "as many as." This is the highest figure the GOP analysts thought they could support. Notice also the phrase "other employees," which covers everyone down to file clerks and support staff.

Shocked! Absolutely Shocked that any partisan group would try to spin a statement to serve their needs.....:sarc:
