What's happening with the Wheelhouse?

I see a public hearing notice in front of the Seagrove Yellowfin property and the old WheelHouse...does anyone know what is planning to move into that property area?

And at the corner of 395 across from Veridian, and by Monet Monet/Rock Hard and several other prominent locations. :idontno:

Someone told me it was just the county finally catching up on old proposed zoning changes.

I have noticed multiple Yellow Fin vehicles parked in front of the empty little blue building near Old Florida Fish house this last week. I am kinda hoping they are opening a branch there!

Who knows. I believe most of that Flowers' property sold a few months ago. Maybe the new owners want to change the land use. I'm not sure what specifically was included with the sale. One way to find out is to get the info from the sign and call the Planning Dept and ask for information on the land use request. Then, attend the meetings.

I thought that the Veridian project would fail. Of course, how many people have invested in a condo-hotel there? But every time I drive by, it gets closer to fruition. What was Planning and the BCC thinking about when they approved that style of architecture for that location? Totally incompatible with the area. Argh!

It wouldn't surprise me if the same sort of incompatible architecture will be approved for the Seagrove Villas/Wheelhouse area. I can't take on every project in SoWal. Will just focus on my own 'hood. In the meantime, I will look the other way when I pass by Veridian.

beach runner, the planning department has nothing to do with architecture style. there are no rules on style in south walton.

Then what does the county's Design Review Board do?

it seems to be primarily concerned with traffic issues, placement of buildings on lots; and parking lots; along with neighborhood compatibility...like no restaurants/bars in the middle of a residential area etc. (However this could be argued in more than one case).

My assessment may not be totally correct--I am only speaking from the experience of attending some of the meetings. I've never seen a scope of work for that Board. Here is a link to the minutes of a meeting FYI. http://www.co.walton.fl.us/archives/42/04012010 DRB Minutes.pdfand the one about Walmart:http://www.co.walton.fl.us/archives/42/01072010 DRB Minutes.pdf
