Interesting info from the Kaiser Family Foundation.
More than three quarters of uninsured individuals in the U.S. are in a working family.
This provides some interesting info that explains why so many lack health coverage and how being uninsured affects their health and financial security.

Good info, Rita. Thanks for posting. This data just points out to me how great the need is for so many people; how they are working, but still unable to afford even the most basic insurance for their families. It is a sad commentary on our country.

and makes me wonder why the Republican leadership (McConnell) is so determined to repeal the health care reform. I have to believe that many people in Ky. fit into the statistics you post. So, Senator McConnell can't be looking out for his constituency when he calls for repeal of the health care reform law. What is he really trying to do?

There was a local attack ad running that really pissed me off - in which they played a clip of a politician saying "this bill has actually helped a lot of people in our community."

I can name 5 Sowallers I know were able to get insurance because of the bill.

The Republicans don't care at all about the health care bill in and of itself. They with the help of media outlets have created this boogieman and have preyed upon the absence of critical thinking skills among scared electorate in difficult economic times. This is all about creating a wedge issue that can be used to disrupt President Obama and reduce his chances for reelection.

Gov't run healthcare as written will suck, period. A majority of Americans want it gone. Mitch is doing exactly what he was elected to do.

Repeal the existing law and rewrite one that makes sense. Lets not vote for something without even reading it. Lets take the proper amount of time and discuss it openly in a public forum. Everyone would know what's in it, how it would apply to them and alleviate the current burdens of cost and access to care. Any decent person wants a well written bill that we as Americans can be proud of.

Healthcare reform could actually bring us together as a nation instead of tearing us apart with the crap we have now. Seriously why can't we do this?

I would love to have an actual discussion about the actual content of the bill - but we can't even do so on Sowal, let alone the national stage because of all the false and inflammatory info being bandied about for political and rating reasons.

Even in your very reasonable paragraph above, you harp on Republican talking points and give false information.

Repealing the bill is not a feasible solution. Amending it is.

What specific item in the current health care bill do you feel should be altered?

Scooter: I've tried, time after time, to get some of these posters to come up with specifics about any number of issues, and it never happens. Don't hold your breath.

I am curious about why so many seniors who are eligible for Medicare are so against the reform?
