What do the American People Really Want

I find it somewhat depressing that so few want to decrease the national debt.

The other items, jobs, economy, health care, I am all for and honestly I could give a dang who gets it done.

Don't y'all get tried of all the bickering.

And Honestly what is with giving Walk the Walk all the Red Rep points. If you don't agree with him then simply state it where everyone can read it.

Yes he can be kinda passionate about his opinons but so are many others. I just guess he does not have a support system.

I don't think anybody on the board who disagrees with wtw has been hesitant to state his/her case in no uncertain terms.

I am discouraged that elected officials use the deficit to justify blocking legislation with which they don't agree (e.g. extending unemployment benefits) but yet the deficit sense of urgency goes away when the discussion surrounds legislation they support like continuing what were supposed to be temporary tax cuts.

Check out the thread that allows you to solve the deficit. It made me so mad that it is so easy to do but our politicos are in gridlock and can't get it done.

I hear ya, Buz. Let me clarify. I acknowledge and accept that the American people say they want their cake and to eat it too.

I blame the elected officials for being afraid to explain to the American people that it just isn't possible for us to have our cake and eat it too and for putting party first and not working together to collectively make some tough choices.

So what people want and what they CAN get are two different things - it's called reality, not a mandate.

Maybe if the electorate wasn't constantly being told they could have their cake and eat it too.............

As one Conservative to another, please don't be so nasty. Have a wonderful day and be thankful we live in a country where we can express our own opinions and listened to even those with which we disagree, and admittedly there are plenty of those on SoWal. It is something unique to our country. If you have lived in others, you know what I mean. To all, have a great and Happy Thanksgiving.

Andrew, happy thanksgiving from a liberal. I would get out of your team's way if they could come up with something they'll do differently than what Obama or Bush II did. So far I haven't heard anything but bumper sticker politics and- defeat Obama.

Admittedly, I have very little education in economics, but it seems to me that if we improve our own economy and jobs situation, then we are in a much better position to then reduce our deficit... I don't understand why people consider them mutually exclusive?

In watching Miracle On 34th Street, I started thinking corporate America and our politicians should not only watch but analyze the show! ..;-)
