Anybody made the trip? Hotels? Restaurants? Must see?

Only through the magic of Pixar, and grandsons that love the movie "Cars".

I hear "Radiator Springs" is a nice stop along the way.

I want Guy Fieri to take me on a Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives tour of Route 66.

Funny you should say that. He DID do a R66 show! Just saw it last night. Kinda what made me think of this thread.

Dammit! I looked to see if it was coming on again soon..no luck. There's actually two episodes on R66. Surely they'll repeat them eventually.

FBB made a scrumptious Pork Chili Verde Monday nIght, that Guy did on one of his DD&D's a while ago. It was so good.

I like anything with Verde. Sounds delish!

We did this last summer. A must stop is the Golden Light Cafe for lunch.

If you should go, don't miss Oatman Arizona. The pack donkeys from gold mining days were left behind when mining days were over. They stay in the hills at night, but during the day they come to Oatman to mingle with the tourists. Be careful, they like to peep in your purse and they love their picture taken. I had to stop in Winslow to get a picture with Don Henley. That was first retirement trip, neat all along the way.

Thanks, y'all. I have heard about the donkeys. And as most here know, I love me some Don Henley and some Jackson Browne (who wrote the song), so Winslow would be a must.
Andrew, tell me more about the Golden Light Cafe. Where is it?
