I tried to find the thread I started on this, but failed. AAA is sending my kid and her friends to Tuscaloosa/Montgomery/Dothan/I-10/I-75/to the turnpike and onto 192 to Windsor Hills Resort. Ends up being 10 hours plus. AAA didn't like 45 South through MS. I thought 45 was pretty decent, and just a little bit of it was 2 lane. Any comments on 1 way vs the other?

We have gone either way. 45 is more isolated, as to places to stop for gas and eating between your area all the way to Mobile except for the Meridian exit.

Just make sure they have plenty of gas and don't need to stop once they leave Meridian

Here is your previous thread: Easy way to find your old threads is click on your name and it will show a link to other posts.

Thanks Minnie-I am challenged in many ways...

I travel 45 south at least once a month, 4 lane except 60 miles from Buckatoona to Mobile. Plenty of gas and food, Buckatoona has nice RR, food and gas, Citronelle has plenty of places to stop. I feel comfrotable and safe with this route, would recommend it to anyone.

Is Buckatoona, where the KFC is, I know once we leave Citronelle, headed north on 45 there is a stretch there without much of anything and no cell phone coverage either.

We always stop at the Burger King in Citronelle, they have nice restrooms.

No KFC in Bucakatoona, 2 places, one on right one on left, not much between Citronelle and Buckatoona, there are a couple of places in case of emegency. Cell phone coverage depends on carrier, we have ATT and Cellular South, dont have a problem. Bertiles in Citronelle is a good place for a burger, not fast food. Not a bad stretch, lots better than it used to be from Meridian, plenty of deer out at night.
