Has anyone killed their TV?

Only time I ever seek out a television is when there's a hurricane coming or the NFL/NBA playoffs are getting good. I don't count sitting at the pizza pub or sports bar when games are on - that's just background.

I despise television. Rather tune in to the beach.

yep, I'm with you all the way. I reached a point several years ago - no tolerance for stupid crap spewing from the tube.

cancelled cable last week...i do netflix through the wii. i can't stand commercials, and don't really set aside time to veg in front of the tv

We netflix and do dvd..read "absence of the sacred" by jerry mandor, or " four arguments for the destruction of your television"

In the Absence of the Sacred is one of the best books I ever read. Must be time to reread it again.

I watch TV...sports and news mainly, and yes a couple of reality TV shows. After reading this thread I decided not to turn it on today (I normally have it on in the background when I'm home). It was actually nice to work in quiet...pretty sure I didn't miss anything...may be on to something.

I've been thinking about it too - though I am not sure I would be more productive as I would probably read as much as I watch TV.
