My mother told me about my aunt in New Hampshire who got scammed. She answered the phone and the caller said "hi grandma", and my aunt replied, "is this Josh?" and the caller said "yes." Well Josh supposedly is in Peru on a trip and was injured and needed medical attention but didn't want to call his parents and worry them while he is out of the country. Could she please send $2500. She did, then some more, the third time the UPS store stopped her and made her realize she was scammed. My aunt isn't gullable at all!

Well, it happened to an elderly woman in my neighborhood and was stopped before she sent $4500. This morning she was going to send another scammer $2600. I called the Sheriff Dept. and was told it was happening alot locally. So, please be careful and check facts before sending money over the phone.

It really burns my backside when the elderly are taken advantage of.:pissed:

In my aunt's case, they had her cell number, which makes the call a bit more convincing. The local case called the land line twice and I do not think they were related calls. One was out of the country and I think the other was in D.C.

SGG, is the victim in your 'hood related to me?
I think everybody has her number.

Yes SN, you know who I am talking about. The story gets better, it relates to the car, the bank with a dent in it's wall.
