Walton County Teaching Jobs

We all know that Walton county has more turnover in instructional staff than any of our neighbor counties. We also seem to have the least experienced, least qualified teachers (except for the good teachers who enjoy tenure). Now it appears that if a former teacher applies for a position at a school and hand delivers an application and resume', it "mysteriously disappears" (or shreaded?).

Please tell us what you know and how you know it. Coy don't play here.

My wife applied for a teaching position at one of the schools. Unfortunatunately she delievered her application in person as well as a resume'. She also had a second resume and applicaton in an envelope that she intended to forward to the central office. The school advised that they would send it. It never got there. Upon discovering that the application never got to the district office, the school called and advised her that they could not find the applications. This is the truth. I also think it's odd that nobody seems to be outraged at allegations of wrongdoing by the county commision, but a lot of people are taken aback by allegations of unethical conduct by the school district. Would you like names, addresses, social security numbers and credit bureau reports on me and my wife to make it easy for our public servants to sue me? I have nothing to hide and the best defense for libel is the truth.

Perhaps you having nothing to hide but I'll bet some school district officials do. But they can lie their way out of it. But we expect corruption in all government at all levels don't we?

If your wife is a good experienced teacher, but not a member of the "good ole boy" family, it's not surprising her application never got submitted. Sad, but that seems to be the way it works around here.

Perhaps I need to clairfy the chain of events. The way she found out the application never got to the district office is that she wanted to apply for another position at the same school and she asked me to call and make sure the application was on file. The person in the district office checked and advised me that the only one on file was an out of date application. I advised that my wife had said that the school had assured her that they would send the district copy up and it wouldn't be necessary for her to send it. After that conversation, the school called our home 15 minutes later asking for my wife who was out that day. I believe this was on a Friday and the following Monday she got a call from the school stating that they could not locate the application. She is willing to state this under oath if I'm sued for libel or slander. We have no intention of suing the school district since we've never sued anyone and don't intend to and besides, with sovereign immunity in play no decent lawyer would take the case for a percentage of $100,000. And a lowly former teacher would never prevail anyway. As for my wife, she taught in Alabama for 29 years and in Walton county for 4 years with an impeccable record of excellent student performance and good evaluations. She has a masters degree and was hired in 2006 by now HR director Sonya Alford who advised her that they sought experienced teachers. Of course when she was dismissed in 2010 we were told that the district wasn't required by law to give a reason for dismissal. Only a real jerk gives that kind of explanation and I received that response from ALL the school board members as well as former HR director Sonny Nolin. Mr. Nolin added that "we do it that way because we're afraid we'll be sued". And for the administrators who demand proof, I'll be glad to meet with you and play back the recordings of those face to face conversations that were made at school board meetings. They were made in the presence of others so there was no presumption of privacy.

Looks like you have it pretty well covered J P. But nothing surprises me about the wicked witch's policies.
