Concealed weapon permits in Walton County

New posts
We have guns and dentists, so we have more gun violence and better teeth by default. Adjust the number of guns in the possesion of the citizenry versus gun violence and I'll bet you an order of fish and chips that we are a pretty non-violent country. As you say, we are going bananas buying guns, but the rate of gun violence is decreasing.
so your argument feints to the relative, and avoids the absolute?

http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/05/08/18uthorities say a 3-year-old Florida boy has died after shooting himself with a gun he found in his uncle's backpack.
The shooting happened Tuesday night in a bedroom Jadarrius Speights shared with his uncle at an apartment complex in Tampa. Authorities say the uncle, 29-year-old Jeffrey D. Walker, has been charged with culpable negligence.
It wasn't immediately clear whether Walker had an attorney. His phone number was not listed and jail records didn't give a lawyer for him.
Police say he has a concealed weapons permit.

Last week, a 5-year-old Kentucky boy who received a .22-caliber rifle as a gift accidentally shot and killed his 2-year-old sister, according to state police.

If that is how you choose to frame it. The bottom line is, for whatever reason, you are really disturbed by rednecks and Bible thumpers arming themselves to the teeth (probably not a new practice, but certainly a popular new obsession of the enlightened anti-gun sophist). Despite your worst fears of the well-armed hillbilly militia coming to burn your David Sedaris collection at gunpoint, gun crime is down. Down. No crisis, Bob. If it makes you feel better, go ahead and obsess, but you are living in safe times, in a safe society. Relax and repeat-Safe and civil. Safe. Safe, Bob. It will be OK man.

Let's be honest, there are a lot of well armed people looking for a boogie man to square off with. They act like persecuted victims, and alls not been right in this country since the "war of northern aggression". Take the new president of the NRA. Take him, please. Maybe this is just an entertaining spectacle, but it's not something to be proud of as an American, that's for sure.

Do you think it's normal to see all available ammunition stripped from store shelves? I am disturbed, but not surprised to see the Governor of Texas acting like the redneck idiot he is showing off at the NRA convention. Yes, the redneck agenda has been responsible for our rapid demise in the past decade. I am afraid of no group or person, but I feel obligated to disagree with you in pointing out we are a needlessly violent society from top to bottom. Whether it be invading and occupying countries for no good reason, trying to inject religion into government, whipping up fear to the point of a gun buying frenzy, or denying modern science, the redneck agenda is the rallying point for much of the South. Rick Perry's protege George Bush likes to attend SMU football practice during the season. I have a future son in law who played for them 2 seasons ago. One day after practice GW spoke with the team in the locker room. As he was finishing his talk, he said he was on campus to take a look at the construction of his new.........he couldn't think of the word library. As he stuttered about the players started to look at one another, and finally Bush gave up and said it was "the place where they keep the books". He then joked that he hoped no one in the press were around to make fun of him. That this man is a mental lightweight like Rick Perry is not even debatable. The worldview they promote is pure poison. Who is David Sedaris?

What, other than the word "inject" is violent about religion in government? From where I sit, religion was here before government. Religion has been taking attacks from government throughout the ramping up of violence in our society; and I don't believe it is a coincidence.

People misinterpret Huckabee's comments from this event. The "knee-jerk" response is to say Gov. Huckabee is calling God's wrath. No. It's important to know that this is coming from a man who believes the fabric of society is made stronger through sacred communal behavior. pray together -> get to know each other -> love one another -> respect one another -> respect our institutions -> never dream of committing terrible acts -> fewer bad things happen...

Huckabee's words speak for themselves, we don't you to interpret them for us.

the very reason for our country was the presence of state sponsored religion that persecuted minority groups. were you asleep in history class? religion's greatest flaw is that it seeks to dominate by purporting that is the only "way". who gives a rat's arse what Huckabee thinks about religion. that is his private concern. he uses religion to make a buck. prayer works for you? what do you ask the big guy on the cloud throne for? what do you "need" to happen? love one another? how do you rectify "love one another" with "I am the only way". see a problem in the logic chiefy? look up the word theocracy, and imagine yourself living in a country dominated by the "wrong" religion. you'd end up in an oven, at the end of a rope, or in a ditch.
