You think the collective whole of mostly low-wage-earning, rural gun owners is hoarding ammo? Sure, some individuals make great examples of this. On the whole, that's just a stereotype. Civilian gun owners would have to band together and try very hard to overwhelm worldwide ammunition production capacity.

The federal government has ordered a very large amount of ammunition; and it has given its agencies and local municipalities funding with orders to spend it on several year's supplies of ammunition. This is a lot bigger than Jim Bob going to Bass Pro Shops. This is the implementation of a political policy through federal appropriations.

"the south" is a state of mind. It is a worldview you embrace. your question is weak because your reasoning is weak. There are good ole boys in every inch of this country ready to unleash their anger at the end of a muzzle. do you have granny guard today, or are you on the lookout for the IRS?
