Your right to use the beach is under attack. (Again)

Yes been looking at it - seems residents near public beach accesses don't like the public. The public has a right of way - that's why it's called public right of way - doesn't matter if you plant flowers and build fences on it. It belongs to everyone.

One access in that neighborhood is undeveloped and is used by residents and renters - no parking places.

One access is behind the gates at Stallworth Lake.

The other one has only a few spaces:

I recommend the county move fast to claim its property before more neighborhoods decide one day they don't want any public there anymore.

It looks as though the residents are wanting to change a public beach access into a private beach access.
They are camouflaging their aguement with the excuse of parking issues. I have never seen anyone parked on Highland Ave due to the obstacles placed by the residents to prevent parking.
I encourage the residents of Walton County to attend the meeting and fight to keep this public beach access available to all of us before we loose it!

South Walton Annex County Commissioners meeting 4:30 Tuesday

Here's some photos of what they have done:

They have since improved upon it:

The TDC needs to use some of its millions to expand beach accesses and add more of them.

Maybe the TDC can purchase the vacant lot that the homeowners roped off with posts and chains. That would be a great start for plenty of parking for all. It would alleviate some of their issues of parking "on their" streets.

These residents are becoming too territorial over public beach accesses. They mention the two accesses are for only Beach Highlands in which they are for all of us to enjoy.

Please make the meeting tomorrow, we need everyone to be there and support this important issue!

The group of people trying to restrict parking had their item added on the agenda, but as it is covered by ordinance it wasn't heard. After reviewing the ordinance, not on county clerks website, this measure won't pass for several reasons. I don't feel I need to list them here as I won't be helping them to correct their mistakes, needless to say multiple requests from the same person don't count.

What you mean is they have several duplicated signatures on the petition.

How foolish for them to make such an error.
