Flooding and Sinkholes

As I've said many times, we bought flood insurance for our home in South Walton (even though it's not in a flood zone) after Katrina. Remember when insurance companies were denying claims for hurricane damage because they said it was flood damage?

There have been several sinkholes in Georgia today due to the rain. After living in Gainesville, I am very familiar with sinkholes. So when we signed up for homeowners insurance, we bought sinkhole coverage too.

Flood and sinkhole coverage are not very expensive. And this gives us a lot of piece of mind. I'd recommend it.

i also have flood insrance at the beach and am not in a flood zone either but i don' reacll being able to get sinkhole coverage as many insurers have taken it off there policies

We just finished building our home in December, and sinkhole coverage was suggested by the insurance agent. We had never heard of this type of coverage, but we said yes. Lots of sinkholes in Florida.
