For conservatives, American exceptionalism is more like American narcissism. They think we're entitled to respect and admiration without having to earn it.

American conservatives believe that the concepts that this country was founded on, as encapsulated in the Declaration of Independence, Constitution, Gettysburg Address and other writings, make America an exceptional nation when compared to all others. While we have faults and have made mistakes, no other nation on Earth has a comparable record regarding freedom or allowing the pursuit of "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" by all citizens. We believe that these principles allowed America to grow faster and go farther and that America has been blessed by God in so many ways. What is there not to admire about a country where you can come in penniless and through hard work make a fortune? Or where the son of immigrants can become a senator or even President? No other place on earth provides such opportunities. That is what American Exceptionalism is all about.

It is too bad that some who post here have no conception what so ever about past American history or what the vast majority of Americans believe regarding their country. America is exceptional and, by far, the greatest place on this planet to live. And, thankfully, due to the sacrifice of millions of our young American men and women, those, such as the poster above, are given the right, previlege and without fear of retribution, to post anything they want regarding our great nation, its values and the principles on which it stands and was founded. As for me, it also allows one to say without equovocation, that such diatribe is without merit or usefulness, but indicative of misunderstanding and lack of knowledge some posess. Some might go so far as to say, sheer stupidity.

You are the one who took some general remarks I made about conservatives, and turned it into something personal. If you read the article linked from the original post you might be able to put what I said into context. I doubt that you even read it. It was entitled "GOP Continues to Embarrass America" in case you're interested. I guess you would rather use the opportunity to get up on the high horse rather than understand the situation. The article was about Republicans who talk a good game, don't really represent American values, but think they do. If you'd like to catch a glimpse of someone like that, look in the mirror. If you insist on dragging me into your disagreements at least have the courtesy of informing everyone that I hold first position on your fecal roster. It took a long time to reach this pinnacle in my posting career. It was achieved through years of reading and responding to your long boorish posts full of so much bullsh*t it is hard to believe one man alone could create a steaming pile that huge. I had to endure your posts telling others they are stupid and their opinions have no merit. I also had to repeatedly hear your claims of a superior education, life experience, refuted chain e-mails and, my favorite, your in depth analysis of how some people are just plain better than others. How do you define last time? You have claimed many times this is your last response, but we all know your inflated ego will not let you stay away.
