South Walton Business Owner was beaten. Sheriff try to brush it under the rug.

There should be standard operating procedures for all of the aforementioned issues that appear to have occurred with this call for service. Those issues are all discussed in the prior posts.

Where they all followed or not?

The Accreditation Team is who needs to be contacted, not the WCSO paid promo-girl, the PIO.

Contact Info is listed below:

For more information regarding CFA or for persons wishing to offer written comments about the Walton County Sheriff’s Office’s ability to meet the standards of accreditation, please write: CFA, P.O. Box 1489, Tallahassee, Florida 32302, or email to info@flaccreditation.org.
Thank you. I found this out too, certified letter is in the mail. Let’s have more than one

Another SOP from the WCSO? I would laugh, if I weren’t so sick to my stomach

The accreditation process is based off of agencies having set and formal procedures for certain things.

For example: Does the agency have a formal and written policy for the towing and impounding of vehicles?

I use that as a reference as it is a common one that is not always implemented and comes back to bite a department in the rear...

You basically have an SOP for every type of criminal complaint and how that complaint should be handled, on a procedural level, not the outcome.

In the case here, the allegation of a battery and a grand theft are at question. The deprivation of 911 is also something to consider.

All of these situations should have a policy or procedure for officers to follow. Report taking, evidence documentation, etc. Now, after this long list of issues cited on this SoWal site, I say there should be an SOP for "conflict of interest"...

Its sort of an ABC's of how to do your job...Get a nice State Issued sticker on all your patrol cars and claim some accolades and say you are accredited, yet the general public have not clue about anything except the perception that "the Kindal Incident" was handled in a very questionable manner and to this date (time of post) your office has not made any formal statement about it.

Is it Nothing To See Here

Something More

This is not my first rodeo with the Sheriff not doing his job. I have been the subject of violence on 30a, thankfully nothing as vicious as Kindal. I contacted the Sheriff. Would I again? No, there’s no point

Regarding the "highly prized recognition of law enforcement excellence" from the image that gailforce posted regarding accreditation let me offer few thoughts and a couple facts.

1. The Criminal Justice Standards & Training Commission (CJSTC), established under Florida Statute, Chapter 943, is an independent, for profit policy making body that ensures that Florida's citizens are served by a qualified, well trained, competent, and ethical law enforcement community.

Sounds pretty and sorta gives you the warm fuzzies thinking you'll be all safe, secure and snug in your beds at night and its sorta the myth people buy into. The reality is, it is a FOR PROFIT independent policy making body of individuals who have created the standards and for them to accredit a law enforcement agency, the agency PAYS dearly.

The initial fee is somewhere around $7000.00 and then the CJSTC comes in and they examine every aspect of your organization from top to bottom and for each inspection they do, the law enforcement agency PAYS for EACH inspection. (literally the taxpayers foot the bill) Its NOT required by the State or any Florida law that any law enforcement agency be accredited. It does not guarantee that any law enforcement agency won't have some rogue officers (as we have seen in Defuniak, who isn't accredited) but it is an honor and a way for the Sheriff to puff out his chest and say "looky what I did" and he doesn't really need any help in that department either. The standards are rigorous and its a great learning tool to help an agency find their strengths and improve their weaknesses.

I do think Mike Adkinson is a great Administrator and I am not opposed to his department being accredited but by the same token, I think his "brag book" is full. The department was last accredited in 2015.

This should have been post number one. This thread started out like a weird game of Clue or a poorly written who done it.

No everyone is as computer literate as you and me @Poppaj. :)

I understood the intent from the first post, it was just a little short on details for me but I understood them wanting to protect the identity of the victim as well.

No need to “dislike” my post. I read the whole thread and that was my honest reaction. It’s obviously an important issue, and I imagine it is horrifying should I ever understand what is going on. How about you, John G, make a consolidated post describing what is known. The start of this thread is spotty, filled with writing errors, and just plain weird. I like to hop on the authorities for not doing their jobs as much as the next guy and I absolutely despise people in a position of power using that power or knowledge to their unfair advantage. But as it stands I see a photo of a woman that looks a bit like The Joker in half makeup who may have been beaten up or done it to herself. I see enigmatic posts by folks with less than 10 posts. And I don’t understand the least bit of it

Sorry I don't write up to you expectations but my post did its intended job and this lady has just been beaten its not a glamour shot. She is very beautiful. Your comments are just plain mean! Respect yourself by respecting others.
