Palliative Care for Dying Infants Enrages the Right

New posts
“impair the mental or physical health” of the mother

Show me the parameters. Draw the line.

A nonviable infant with severe deformities who would endure severe pain and suffering and incur huge expense for the duration of his/her short life would certainly qualify in my book as to when the infant could receive palliative care. For me that is well beyond the "line". I would have to listen to the opinions of a variety of medical professionals to form an opinion as to where this "line" might lie. People in these professions live through end of life situations all the time. Spend some time in a nursing home and talk to people. They are almost in universal agreement that the laws require dying people to suffer unduly when the end is near. Fortunately the laws do allow an eventual legal way out. Why should it be any different for the infants and their parental guardians?

We are clearly talking about two different things. Where is the line drawn regarding the mothers health, which includeds mental health, in a situation where the baby is viable. The Virginia bill got tabled and I doubt we'll see it any time soon.

I have spent some time in a nursing home.

I'm talking about exactly what the governor was talking about.

That's a narrow topic. I'm talking about the bigger pictire and the implications of new bills and laws and how the "health exception", established by the Supreme Court, has bearing on these new bills/laws. Specifically, psychological and emotional health as deciding factors for carrying out an abortion. That can be interpreted too broadly in my opinion.

I'm not interested in debating this topic. You have your opinion and I have mine. I only follwed the link from the other thread because you quoted me and linked it to here.
