Hi Jensky,
It’s possibly this pandemic that is causing people to preach and spread their word more... I’ve lived here for a nearly 20 years but it seems that people are getting more amped up? I guess I wasn’t raised to speak about certain topics to complete strangers? Lately I find it’s been more common and I feel that people that express their religious or political opinions in public might have underlying traits that are concerning? I’ve been to many countries and met people of so many different religions and have never had anyone try to recruit me, save me or preach to me before I moved here! Thank you for letting me know that I am not alone in noticing this continuing occurrence.
Well don't miss the big picture of the fact that we have become a much louder culture over the last decade suffering from a pandemic of oversharing. :D:doh::bang:

About 10 years ago everybody was all like "wow it seems like everybody's on prescription drugs like prozac we're all doomed" and now it's like "why are people acting crazy and why is the planet burning?"

Old men are supposed to be fishing and golfing not running the country on prozac and viagra. At least 20 years ago before viagra they were actually getting some work done now they're spending all their time looking for holes to fill to prove they're not dead already.

I never thought of it that way... we might be around the same age? You could be right? If you are correct, those old men have passed it down to the slightly younger generation. That is the age group that I keep hearing “the message” from. It also seems that if I don’t agree with the people that are voicing their opinions in public to complete strangers are also very volatile and easily offended with people that are not of the same opinion. That’s why I have become a head nodder simply to get away. I’ve tried for years to accept that this situation will continue and there’s nothing I can do about it. It’s just overwhelming. Thank you for your feedback

thank you for your honesty. I don’t do Facebook or hardly any social media. I chose this forum because it’s local and at least has people that have been to our town. I’ve lived here for nearly 19 years and try to keep to myself and especially my opinions. Our town has grown and I guess I’m very approachable because I definitely don’t look like someone you shouldn’t mess with, lol! I’m in an odd situation because I actually believe in a Creator ( which I call God because I feel most people identify with that name ) but I’m not religious... I have nothing against Jesus or his teachings at all but I can’t pretend to be something I’m not by going to church. I even don’t have anything against church goers but I feel I have to run from certain salesmen. Even some of my best friends are religious but they’re not extremist. I appreciate your views and it helps to know that I’m not the only person that has experienced this.

I wouldn't say I look like someone you shouldn't mess with in general. It's just for some reason people don't approach me about religion and it used to happen quite a bit. I was younger and maybe I looked liked I was searching for meaning and answers.

If you disagree with people and stand your ground, you may end up burning bridges, but you'll also end up with some really good friends. I like to weed certain people out of my life.

If someone I know and trust has a conversation with me about religion, I have no problem with it at all. I just find it odd if it’s someone I don’t know and especially talking about the end of days... to me, it’s just not the best introduction someone can give. I won’t even attempt to explain what I experienced the other day. I’ve spoken to a close friend and he told me that in his faith, that person I encountered wasn’t supposed to say that kind of stuff to me and that it creates a negative image for people of his faith. I just got freaked out and unfortunately it’s happened many times during the years. I accept that people have many different faiths and beliefs.
I truly think what that person said to me is just becoming more prominent because of this pandemic.

I've had people from a local Baptist church show up on my doorstep several times over the years. I just tell them I'm Catholic, which is true, although I'm not religious. Some Jahovas Witness dudes have knocked on my door. All nice guys but sorry I'm "Catholic". Then a young woman at our Chic Filet asked if she could sit with me and read the Bible together. I just said no but thanks. It happens. They are always seemingly good people. I hope they find the ones they are looking for.

Thank you Teresa,
I can’t believe I even posted this because I never want to offend anyone. Thank you for your understanding. Life has completely flipped upside down in so many ways I sure didn’t see coming and I bet with certainty that I’m not the only one. This recent experience sincerely freaked me out. Unbelievably one of the previous replies kinda hit where I’m at in life and that is “seeking” but some people can weird me out. I’m usually a very good judge of character and definitely appreciate good delivery compared to the fear of God message (especially when someone comes at me in an aggressive way). That’s why I had to see if others have experienced the same thing.
Thank you for being YOU!
