Just wondering what your prediction is about the way tourists will treat our beautiful beaches? Ever since I moved here 19 years ago, I noticed that the tourists have always left a ton of garbage littering our beaches... I’ve always thought that for some reason they just don’t care about us or the environment.
Do you think that during this pandemic, the tourists will have learned something positive and have a healthy mindset or do you think they will be worse and not give two cents?

I'm just going to say it....I have loved enjoying 30a and this area again for 2 months without all the tourists and traffic. It reminds me why I moved here. I know, I know all about the tourists as our mainstay of economy...I know you can't have it both ways, but boy, even with corona and distancing, some of it has been sweet.

It has been a silver lining. Even had my preferred scarcity of restaurants and shopping. And only going to the grocery once a month. lol

I am hopeful that tourists will be happy and grateful to be here. And while some may not observe beach rules or interact safely with our community in the midst of a pandemic, many will. I know many of them and they love our community as much as we do.

Also, our SWFD lifeguards and Volunteer Beach Ambassadors are working at lifeguarded public accesses, answering questions, giving tips and advice on how to protect wildlife, know the rules and stay safe at the beach. I'm thinking of these community members.

With so many visitors over this popular Memorial Day weekend, I just hope people will be safe and respectful of one another's health and safety. Many will. But some won't. As we know some vacationers tend to leave all good sense at home. I am hoping for the best though.
