Been out of touch and just now reading about Jones. I sincerely am sorry to hear of his declining health. My wish is that he receives as good as treatment from Walton County BCC as the same afforded me when I 1) reported catastrophic illness in my immediate family, 2) asked to step away from my manager's position immediately and temporarily but was kept in place for six months despite and 3) was unceremoniously laid off immediately after returning from bereavement leave for my sister (to be replaced with a person much less qualified but perhaps more willing to execute in the WCBCC way). Sincerely Larry, I'm not like you at all and wish you only the best possible outcomes.
To the Elected Officials, Ms. Hinote, and voters of Walton County BCC: You deserved and deserve better. Skip the FL Assoc of Counties, use a private search firm, block out names in submitted credentials, let your HR department director do his job with integrity and without interference and allow him only to work with the private search firm to make the public part of the process as transparent as possible. Don't stack the deck against yourselves before the card game even begins.
Former elected officials and influential community members (u know who u are, Sue): back the hell off and give a good process a good chance of producing good results for all of the people of Walton, just not yourselves.
