Looks like we will be sick to our tummies on popcorn and someone will be overserved on cocktails and it could be a real mess!

Well, not 20, but that was a good lead-in!

What is the history of this board? How/why did you start it? How did you get the word out initially? Are you surprised at the popularity of it? What is your favorite part about being the administrator/Daddy-O?

You may have addressed these questions earlier, but I didn't really read anything until this summer, so I may have missed the History of SoWal.com.

I started a primitive board on GraytonBeach.com several years ago. It was hard to follow and unsearchable, and got loaded with spam. But it built a core group of people, who are on this new board, which is a little over a year old.

Last night at Grayton Market as I was leaving with my frozen fries, a guy picks up a SoWal sticker off the counter and asks the clerk "what's this". She said, "it's the website for South Walton". That made me feel good.

I'm surprised it's grown so fast. I'm proud that in in my small effort to help out locals and visitors to our community, a lot of other people have joined in to help. The power of the people! We are building it together. :clap_1:

You have and are doing a wonderful service for the community of South Walton. (Others on this board as well. Team effort sorta thing.)

I have as good of a connection to what is going on in this small community where I am miles away as I do in my local community. That is nearly unheard of. I wish to soon be there to do my part in helping out wherever I can!

Great work Kurt!

Thanks fearless leader. I just kinda wanted to know a bit of background since my entire life these days is spent with the SoWal group :funn:

Kurt,

Yesterday I was in the car drop-off line at school and I happened to be behind Tootsie who has a "SoWal.com" sticker on her back window. My six-year-old son, who is proud of his newly acquired reading skills said, "Mom, I keep seeing all these cars that have S-O-W-A-L on the back of them. What does that mean?" If a first grader can recognize the SoWal.com logo, Kurt you've made it big!! Or maybe your just an expert in subliminal advertising for children.

Of course, the question for me is why I don't have a sticker. I had one, but one of the kids demolished it before I had a chance to stick it. Just need to get another. I'll let my little son help me stick it on.

At least you're not playing Neopets. My 10-yr-old started playing it, but spent far too much time doing it. I checked out the site and was not impressed. I asked my daughter to stop playing it and she said she would, but that it was addictive. So I blocked the site. She had some withdrawl symptoms--very moody for a few evenings--but wouldn't admit that she was worried about her neopet. Since she stopped neopets, she has read about 4 books in one week.

Of course, I could stop checking up on my SoWal friends at any time. :floor: No addiction here. I
