2011 State of the Union Address

New posts
Candidates should be able to praise Allah, Buddah or whichever flavor they choose (including none) on their own time. I just don't want them making policy decisions based on what their god or their horoscope said.

I haven't bothered reading this thread except for this last page. Now I know why and it certainly wasn't a mistake. BTW, it is way too early to start the 2012 election no matter what Geo says. While anything but ridiculous, it is, literally, an exercise in futility and serves no useful purpose until we have some firm idea of who the candidates might be. It seems we are now in a posture of campaigning for office continuously instead of a few months before the election. Its personal with me, but I prefer the shorter campaigns.

I don't get you. If you don't want to discuss the 2012 election- the candidates and potential candidates in 2011 then-

Don't.

But why bother posting then?

It's like going to a Bingo Hall, sitting down at a table, refusing to put your money down on a bingo card and instead telling folks who are there enjoying themselves what a dumb game it is.

:idontno:

Shopper, thanks for putting forth some names. I look forward to learning more about these potential candidates.

You don't need to get me. I was expressing a thought, opinion or whatever you want to call it. It was a "generalization" of what had been posted. The last I heard, there were many who read the posts on this board, not just one and the opinion expressed was reasonable and above board. If any don't like what is posted, they are free to ignore it or not read it. Also, I am sure I stay as informed as anyone on who might run and who might not. When the time comes I will not be shy in expressing my opinion and you, on the other hand, are free to ignore it or comment on it. Your choice, as it should be. As of now, it is way to early to speculate, with any degree of sensibility, as to who will be the next Republican candidate. One thing is for sure. It will be one who will have the ability to beat Obama unless he continues his present swing toward center.

So anyway...

I can't wait until the time comes that you see it sensible to discuss candidates so you can grace us with what you think.

Until then, do continue to check in now and then to read only the last page of a thread and then to remind us of our futile efforts in exchanging ideas under the pretense that you are within your right to do so and we are within our right to ignore it.

Good times, Andy. Good times.

Nuf' said. It is not my intent to be banned.

Only person I can think of who would have a shot is Jeb Bush.

If the election were today, I would say the country is not ready for another Bush in the White House; having said that, if it were a choice among all the other Republicans mentioned, I'd say the country could do a lot worse than Jeb Bush. While I did not agree with his politics much of the time, he is intelligent; he did many things in the best interest of Floridians while he was the Secretary of Commerce and the Governor. He would have a more reasonable approach to immigration due to his personal understanding of it; and he would approach foreign policy and diplomacy in a much different way than his brother did--more like his Father did, IMO. I'm not really thrilled with his ideas on education and I'd much rather see Obama re-elected; but, given the choices of all the others mentioned today, Jeb Bush would be at the top of my list. He was not a bad governor for Florida--and he knew how to govern for all the people, not just his party. He was interested in governing, not just getting re-elected, and he is smart in the ways that matter IMO...and I found him to have integrity and compassion both of which could be seen in his actions.

Is this thread only open to discussion about R's and D's? Can Lib's and Ind's belly up to the bonfire?

If so:
I like Ron Paul. He's experienced yet he speaks out in a rational civilized manner. Is he perfect? No. Is anybody? No.

If not:
I'll retreat to my corner. It's a pleasant 'outside' corner!

Please come on and belly up--the more the merrier...and besides, no one is really what they seem to be these days anyway! LOL.
