Currently there are three coach openings in the SEC (Arkansas, Kentucky and Tennessee) I suspect Auburn will join that group very soon.

Post your thoughts on those openings (and others as they materialize) here....


My thoughts on the Arkansas opening....

Evidently an offer has been made to Jon "Chucky" Gruden. It is huge money, but I'm not banking on him taking the offer. Should know more later this week.

In the mix....Gary Patterson, Mike Gundy, James Franklin. Probably going to be Patterson or Gundy...
 
I heard Gruden is entertaining options from BOTH Ark and UT. Will be interesting to see who offers more. That's the reason Hart made the move this week instead of waiting until the end of the season for Dooley.
 
Didn't Gruden sign another contract with ESPN and Monday night football? I've heard several people mention wanting Gruden at UT. I know nothing about him. We need someone that is a good coach, but without a bad reputation like Kiffin, Petrino, etc. Probably in my opinion be best to stay away from a pro football coach. Just my opinion.
 
The problem with UT is that they are going to need a big name coach to get players away from other SEC teams. As you know, Memphis is already a suburb of Tuscaloosa and there is relatively little marquee talent anywhere else in the state's high school system. Gruden's name and pro career will be enticing to high school kids. That all being said, I don't think he'll do it. A safe choice would be Cutcliffe but likely not too popular. This choice will be a tricky one for sure.
 
Cutcliffe won't come back to Tennessee. He just got a contract extension with Duke. You talking about Bama gets a lot of high school players from Memphis? I thought many of them were nothing but mama's boys who wanted to stay in Memphis with their mamas.

Is it just me, or does he look like he knows his future in this pic? Or is he thinking about the check Cam Newton was given?
