Interesting how he doesn't think that his vote to remove a literary work from the curriculum isn't censorship or book banning. Well, what is it then? He voted to take Blithe off every school library shelf. Ridiculous.

Bob S.- you called him on it- way to go.

is it just me or is anyone else creeped out by the fact that our school system (all school systems) is run by elected politicians? surely there is another way...

You know, even though I am aspiring to be one of those politicians, you are correct. The problem is that elected people are not sitting there making decisions based upon information that they are presented. There is always the element of doing what it takes to keep the greatest number of people happy in the back of their minds. So far, Mark Davis is the only one that I feel is consistently basing his decisions on information instead of emotions and emotional arguments. And even though I disagree with him on some of his decisions, I have a lot of respect for how he arrives at them and the fact that he sticks to what he believes without consideration of consequences to his future electability. And by doing that, he has, in my opinion, secured votes from far more people than he ever could have gotten by pandering to different groups.

I agree with you about Mark Davis, and we are crossing our fingers that you get "on board the school board", because you truly seem to understand the issues facing Walton County schools.

Great job, Matt! You sounded well prepared. Thanks for showing the horse, but not beating it to death.
