331 accident 11/26/10

The Sheriff just updated us on Facebook that the bridge is now open. God Bless the family, friends and loved ones involved in the accident. God Bless our emergency responders, (our angels in the time of need) who were there to help and comfort them. It can't be easy to do, day after day. Thank you.

V1 1993 Chevrolet SUV, Jonathan Howell, age 18, DeFuniak Springs
V2 2003 Dodge Van, Gayle Willis, age 56, Montgomery AL; Earl Willis, age 81, Montgomery, AL; Don L. Thrasher III, age 12, Montgomery, AL
V3 2003 Volkswagen, Jennifer Turner, age 30, Tallahassee, FL
V-1 was traveling southbound on U.S. 331 crossing over the Clyde B. Wells Bridge. V-2 was traveling northbound on U.S. 331 also crossing over the Clyde B. Wells Bridge. V-3 was traveling southbound on U.S. 331 crossing over the Clyde B. Wells Bridge, behind V-1. V-1 while traveling southbound crossed over the center dividing line into the northbound lane and into the path of V-2. The left front side of V-1 struck the left front side of V-2. V-2 after striking V-1 rotated counter clockwise causing the rear of V-2 to ride up onto the concrete barrier wall, coming to final rest facing west straddling both the east shoulder and northbound lane. V-1 after striking V-2 traveled in a southwesterly direction in the southbound lane and rolling onto its left side, coming to final rest facing south. V-3, unable to avoid V-1 as it slid in the southbound lane, was struck on it's left side by the under carrage of V-1.

Seagrovegirl, you are so right about giving thanks to the rescue people who are called to scenes like this everyday. Just seeing the photos of the vehicles is enough to shake up most people, yet these guys see so much more. I don't know how they do it day after day. I think we are all thankful for those guys.

We should all thank these men and women every time we see them. I know from experience that Walton County has the very best in the emergency medical and firefighting line of work.
