Something is going on at the 331 causeway. I just got home and it looked like the fire department had a boat launched and some other vehicles on hand. I think a search boat was cruising NW towards Lagrange Bayou. A few sheriff's trucks were near the docks.

Not sure what happened but hope they find what they're looking for.

I saw the same thing, but I don't know what they were looking for.

Nothing in the local rags, but good lord is there some crime going down this week. Luckily most of it isn't here.

A Milton couple was stranded for two days on their homemade houseboat before they were able to call for help, according to Freeport Fire Chief Ben Greenslait.

The 26-foot houseboat had set sail Tuesday at Black Water Creek when the boat had engine trouble. The couple had no cell phone reception and failed at several attempts to flag down other boats.

During the two days, the couple told rescuers that storms were vicious as they floated in Choctawhatchee Bay.

Finally, the boat drifted to Basin Bayou along the north shore of the bay. The couple were able to get reception and call for help. Freeport firefighters launched a boat and brought the couple and their vessel in Thursday evening.

The woman, who suffers from epilepsy, was rushed back to her home for medication she was unable to take while stranded, Greenslait said.

?We got them back on land and back to their residence,? he added. ?It made for a good ending.?

Walton County sheriff?s deputies assisted in the rescue.

Thanks for the update and glad it had a happy ending!
