No reflection on this specific property, but I urge anyone looking into a long term rental in Seacrest Beach (heck, any property in SOWAL) to make sure the property owner is up to date on mortgage payments. One way is to have a copy of the latest statement from the bank provided at the time of lease execution. Alternatively, search the property owner's name in the Walton County searchable court records...initiated legal actions will be cataloged there. Remember, once a lease is executed the renter has surprisingly few special rights (ie, getting out of the lease without surrendering deposits) even though many of these 'landlords' rent in bad faith. This happened to us in Seacrest Beach, and our street had at least three to four lis pendens properties (out of six or seven total houses!).

Thanks so much. Great info to have. We are relocating there in Dec.-Jan and have not had alot of luck in finding a rental....but we will keep looking! The perfect or a great home is out there I know it
