Not quite yet. It'll be around he holidays. But I'm gettin there!

Nope, this is a conference call about something stupid nobody cares about. I'm sure you're all familiar.....

One of my crazy friends emailed this to me today... worth a try????? Sorry its so long.

Hi friends....this is worth a try. Some friends of ours started this about three weeks ago. Pass it on - we can use the help.

I hear we are going to hit close to $3.00 a gallon by the summer. Want gasoline prices to come down? We need to take some intelligent, united action

Phillip Hollsworth, offered this good idea:

This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the "don't buy gas on a certain day" campaign that was going around last April or May!

The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to "hurt" ourselves by refusing to buy gas. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them. BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can really work.

Please read it and join with us!

By now you're probably thinking gasoline priced at about $1.50 is super cheap. Me too! It is currently $2.75 for regular unleaded in my town.

Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a gallon of gas is CHEAP at $1.50-$1.75, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace.... not sellers.

With the price of gasoline going up more each day, we consumers need to take action. The only way we are going to see the price of gas come down is if we hit someone in the pocketbook by not purchasing their gas!

And we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves.

How? Since we all rely on our cars, we can't just stop buying gas. But we CAN have an impact on gas prices if we all act together to force a price war.

Here's the idea:

For the rest of this year, DON"T purchase ANY gasoline from the two biggest companies (which now are one), EXXON and MOBIL. If they are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit.

But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Exxon and Mobil gas buyers. It's really simple to do!! Now, don't whimp (sic) out on me at this point... keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!!

I am sending this note to about thirty people. If each of you send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300)... and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000) ... and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth generation of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers!

If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted! If it goes one level further, you guessed it..... THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!! Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people and DON"T purchase ANY gasoline from EXXON and MOBIL. That's all.

How long would all that take? If each of us sends this email out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days!!! I'll bet you didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you! Acting together we can make a difference.

If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on.

PLEASE HOLD OUT UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE $1.30 RANGE AND KEEP THEM DOWN. THIS CAN REALLY WORK

Consider that while this might hurt Exxon & Mobil - The first to be hurt would likely be the "little" guys who own the stations. They could lose their livelyhood and emloyees their jobs. :idontno:

You?re probably right about that. I just thought it was interesting. I'm not promoting it! I usually gas up at my little neighborhood station. It's a Shell station. Otherwise, I gas up where ever it's convenient.

Hey there...this Texas gal is a stockowner of both!!! How about mass transit, carpooling and getting rid of the gas guzzlers?

Look on the bright side. Expensive gas forces even the most unsympathetic to the environment to become conservationists. Imagine the long term effects of inflated gas prices...
First we will buy more fuel efficient cars or at least start talking about it like we are now.
That will in turn force the car manufacturers to make more fuel efficient cars. The hybrid cars are already on waiting lists.

This will slow global warming which at the very least will save you money on air conditioning bills.
And maybe even if prices continue to rise we will be moving back to metropolitan pedestrian friendly communities where Mom and Pop stores are within walking distance. Then our money will stay in our community instead of being shipped out to big corporations who do nothing to add to the overall well being of our everyday life but sell cheap toilet paper.

Eventually the elimination of urban sprawl and acid rain might make our water ways clean so we can stop buying bottled water and will be able to eat all the fish we catch and the effects go on and on.

And that is not even getting into the military savings if...

So be glad you are paying $75 to fill up. It may be the best investment you ever made.

Okay, here's the story of my first ride on a two wheeled vehicle.

Okay picture this:

It is a beautiful day in downtown Key West. A perfect day to learn how to drive a tiny, underpowered motorcycle amongst bumper to bumper traffic and numerous pedestrians.

I am sitting on my newly rented crotch rocket along side the curb of crowded Duval Street awaiting my companion who is signing paperwork. I decide to rev this thing a little and much to my surprise, it has a little more umph than I expected.

The next thing I know, I am going down Duval Street. ?On one wheel-

Because of my death grip on the throttle thing, I only increased speed. Once I figured out what was causing the incredible increase in speed, I poked one finger up from my death grip and pulled the hand brake back. This action, of course, brought the front wheel crashing back down to the pavement. Somehow, I had just done a wheelie down one entire block of Duval Street.

Once I stopped this beast, I turned around to see the rental guy and my buddy running down the street. They were yelling something I couldn?t quite make out. I assumed the rental guy?s words were ones of anger. When he ran up, the guy said, ?Damn buddy, you?re good! But you oughta know these little things can?t take that. Take it easy on them!?

As I tried to hide the bloody scrape on the side of my foot, I said, ?Oh sorry man. I won?t do it again.?

We howled laughing all the way back to the condo, where my buddy crashed his into a mangrove-like bush at the entrance to the place. Good times and good memories
