9 ft. rattlesnake

New posts
 I'm a nature lover, but that's a little too much nature for me!!

They say that snake weighed 97 pounds. My husband says he hated that it was killed as it may have been the largest rattlesnake ever and should have been put in a zoo somewhere. There's no snake better than a dead snake! We usually see cottonmouths and copperheads here during the summer anyway. And that is more than I care to see!

9 feet

Although while living in Dothan I almost stepped on a 6 foot rattlesnake with 15 rattles and a button......we did kill it though, mom did not want a snake like that crawling around in our yard....

Two reptilian memories from our childhood life in Florida...

Baby Brother, who would cry, "Sneak! Sneak!" when he saw one on our property. By the time he was two, he had scoped out two rattlesnakes, two coral snakes, a couple of cotton-mouth mocassins, and a king snake.

The horror story about the Eglin AFB airman who was water skiing on Boggy Bayou and skiied into a nest of cottom-mouth mocassins. Didn't make it. This was sometime in the late 1950s. Does anyone recall this?

how many hacks with a hoe would it take to kill something like that? that is our preferred method of snake extermination around here. or if you are my pop, shoot it.

That was a few years before I was born, but I just e-mailed my nephew. His inlaws are born and raised Boggy (or, Niceville) and they would remember.
