a few gatlinburg pics...

do what we do mermy - rent a cabin in the hills and avoid downtown at all costs - ticky tacky is a good way to describe it. i'm not into shopping or anything so we spend most of our time driving in the mountains and the blue ridge parkway.

I think that would definitely work for us. I was so taken by your photos last night that I googled Gatlinburg tourist info and my heart sunk! I have no desire to visit Ripley's Believe it or Not or any other tourist traps. :( But that scenery--talk about perfect. I could fall in love with a weekend in those mountains. We'll take your advice. A cabin would be so much funn! (Did yours have a hot tub?)

pretty much all of the cabins have hot tubs on their decks. we have rented from mountain stream cabins, timber tops, and cabins for you and all have been good experiences. i'm like you - ripleys

there is an area called the arts and crafts loop (i think) that have craftspeople making their own wares etc. and you can see how things are made, lots of pottery and stuff like that. it's not too bad and you can find some pretty neat stuff.

NOW you're crackin'. I love artsy fartsy stuff!

there are a couple of really neat pottery shops - i like alewine pottery. i have several things from there. lots of art galleries down thru there too.

Well, I'm sold. This all sounds great. Is there golfing around Gatlinburg?

Now, how is Brown County? I hear people from our area talk about visiting there regularly. What is it like?

And what (where) is French Lick?????

very peaceful and serene pics Audie. :clap_1:

i'm not sure about the golfing, except for mini-golf - lots of that.

brown county i haven't been to in probably 10 years, not sure what's there any more except a bunch of shops. they used to have country music concerts there, not sure if they still do.

french lick is in southern indiana it is south of bloomington where i.u. is. it has hotels, i believe some gambling, and a spa, and i don't know what else. my mother goes down there for her red hat ladies' conventions. i've never been there.

Thanks.
Ahhh, the Red Hats. I guess that's a national club/society. Cute ladies but I hope I don't ever get involved in one. ;-)

all the red hat stuff drives my father insane - he has several not too flattering names for them...
