A sort of half-assed trip report

Mind you, this won't be near the trip report you got from bba or Darlene, but here's the high(low)lights:

Friday, July 15: Left my house around 11:00 am and headed to Big D to pick up son/girlfriend and 5 kids. Two car caravan. Girls quiet in car. Finally, around Shreveport, I made them play "I Spy". They cooperated for about 20 minutes, then became bored and quiet again. Plan was to spend the night in Slidell and on into Fdub Sat am. Arrived in Slidell, went wrong way on I-10 into Mississippi, stop at Ms. welcome center for one of many potty breaks, turn around, back to LA and motel. Motel crappy, dinner at Waffle HouseKids loved it. Got up the next morning to rain-a sign of things to come.

Saturday, July 16: Rain, tons of traffic. Slow go down 98 from Pensacola. Finally arrive on Okaloosa Island. Unlock house, unload crap. Did I mention it was raining? Quick trip to Publix for essentials. $200 later, load groceries in car, back to house, unload groceries. Make lunch. Make grocery list for the following day. Watched it rain. Sunkist, Jake and Jackson arrive. Yippee!! Break in rain. Checked out beach..not good. Back to house. Drank lots of beer. Ordered pizza.

Sunday, July 17: Guess what? Rain. Rain all day. Up early. Fixed breakfast..three times. Obilgatory trip to Alvin's Island for a beach bag for Sunkist. On to Destin WalMart. Sheer chaos. No produce left. All I wanted was a freakin' bell pepper FTLOC. Back to the island in the rain. Played some cards. Made chicken spaghetti--lots of chicken spaghetti. Watched it rain. Drank lots of beer. Sent Sunkist to liquor store for Sweet Tea Vodka-my new bff. Let me just say this stuff may rival summer beer in my book. Stood outside under the breezeway, drank more vodka. Watched it rain. Watched/listened to Disney channel 24/7. Drank a lot more.
