I took my daughter, Kaiboo, to Hilton Head this past weekend for her birthday trip. It was a suprise for her and it was an amazing weekend!
She spent the night with me Friday night and we woke up early Sat. morning in order to get to Hilton Head by 11:00. We arrived 10:30, they had a room ready for us so we checked in. It was a great room, a suite overlooking the Atlantic ocean. We walked over to the spa where I had booked her a facial, massage and body wrap. While she enjoyed the spa treatments, I enjoyed a mojito and the beach! Three hours later, I walked over to the spa, Kaiboo was like a noodle, I think she had funn!;-)
We went to the rental station and rented bikes for the beach. We rode them down the beach and had some wonderful views. Halfway back her chain popped off and we could not get it back on.... our hands looked like grease monkeys...so we scrubbed them with sand and salt water...which helped a bit. We walked the bikes back....not too bad...like a nice walk on the beach! No charge for the broken bike. We went to the jacuzzi and laid out while listening to the 2 man band....Steel drum Caribbean music! One of the musicians looked like Santa Clause...long white hair & beard. We went back to the room and showered. Reservations at the hotels resturant at 8:00. We were early so we went to the hotels bar...Regatta and played a game of pool...Kaiboo beat me by 2 balls.... . Santa was there setting up for his other gig...a 5 man band. He comented to Kaiboo that she looked very nice (we were the only people in the place at the time). Kaiboo has told everyone that she met Santa...
We had a great dinner...crab cakes, Shrimp (which Kaiboo says are the best she has ever had) and I had duck. We finished dinner and put on bathing suits...hit the jacuzzi! What a great night! Sleep early because we had to get up early for a suprise for Kaiboo...we got on a ferry and boat for 45 minutes over to Dafuskie Island where we are to horseback ride on the beach. This has always been one of her dreams...we used to own a horse and she has loved riding since she was small. The boat ride over is so much funn. We see many dolphins and diving pelicans. We make it to the equestrian facility and are introduced to our "rides". I am a good sport and go too. It is just our guide, Kaiboo and myself. They two trot on ahead several times and I enjoy going a slow pace. I do get Gus...yes my horse's name was Gus, to go fast a few times...OMG...my A$$ is still smarting!!!! Kaiboo loved the whole experience and has decided that she wants to work there next summer!
We are dropped off at the Island Beach Club for lunch and to wait for the bus to take us to the ferry (no cars on the Island except shuttles and utility vehicles...everything else is golf carts) Defuskie is a very beautiful Island which used to be a huge cotton growing area, had a population of 2000 and about 12 plantations. It was also a large oyster canning Island.
We were able to catch the 3:00 ferry and headed towards home around 4:00. We make it home about 6:30 in time for me to shower & change...the last part of Kaiboo's birthday weekend...I am taking her & a friend to a "heavy rock" show at the New Brooklyn Tavern in Columbia. ...I think she had a great weekend..I know I did!

And, Yes RO...I do have pics...I will try to put them in my photo album later...but here are two....Kaiboo on Sport and our "suite" (sorry about the changes in tenses...i typed this and didn't think about proper verbage...sorry:idontno: :idontno:

Wonderful report and glad you had such a good time with your daughter. We went to Hilton Head before we found SoWal and had many good times. Loved biking on the wide beach.
