Doesn't an indictment mean a jury has determined there is sufficient evidence of wrongdoing?

Yes, but it is not a conviction of the crime implied.

Annie66, I don't know what you are talking about. I will only say this. An indictment is not a conviction. The last time I looked, one was still innocent until proved guilty in this country, however, you'd never know it by watching what the news media puts out.

Lots of people get away with crimes. Some times crooks get away with wrongdoing because prosecutors aren't as good as the defense lawyers. And when Ray Sansom's buddies contribute lots of money to Walton county politicians there's usually a reason other than the best interest of ALL the citizens of the county. They didn't contribute to Okalooosa county officials. Usually tese people know who is corrupt or corruptable. And you're right about the presumption of innocence. Casey Anthony comes to mind, however.

Then there is certainly reason to work toward a local ballot that does not reflect party affiliation and forget the primaries. Where I lived previously, party affiliation in city and county races was not expressed on the ballot. It seems to promote better government, IMO.
The only Democrats that might be holding public office in Walton County are the NP offices (school board, mesquito control bd. etc.). Registered Republicans outnumber registered Democrats 2 to 1 so a win in the Rep. primary is the winner of the election. Frankly I'd like to see more Democrats run. I haven't been brain washed by the little Republican/tea party clique who seem to have put themselves in charge. I did notice that one person has qualified to run as a Democrat for school superintendent, but the incumbent will almost surely win. The primary is diluted and the challengers can't match the funding from the big contributors who finance the clique.
