A friend of mine here in Atlanta started doing this. He goes around to restaurants asking for their used oil. He's been running his truck on it for a year now. He has the converter in his garage. Says it runs cleaner and better than it ever did on reg diesel.

There's a program on the Discovery Channel, I think it is, where the host travels around in a jeep (I think) that has been converted to do the same thing. He says after trying many different restaurants, he's found the oil from sushi restaurants is best. Shoot, what's the name of that show...something to do with archeology, I think.
OK, here it is--History Channel: Digging for the Truth

Mr Diesel invented the diesel engine to run on vegetable oil so that people in rural areas without gas stations could be self sufficient. It is not surprising to me that the engine performs best when using the fuel which it was original designed to burn. :D
